Answers

Q: Will I have an opportunity to see my stone slab(s) before my countertops are installed?
A: Absolutely. The stone is delivered to our warehouse approximately the same day as the template is done. There is a small window of opportunity to view the stone before the fabrication process begins. You may schedule a time to look at the material at our office before the template is done.

Q: What if I want a certain area of my slab used on my Island?
A: You may come to our shop to do the lay-out and help determine how you want your slab used and positioned for your counters.

Q: Can I install granite, marble or quartz on top of my existing countertops?
A: Not recommended. Many times the level of rigidity of the new countertop can be compromised.

Q: Should I clean out my cabinets before the template appointment and or demolition?
A: That is not necessary, although you may want to cover the top layer of drawers with paper towels to keep the contents clean.

Q: Do I need to have anything available at the time of template?
A: Yes, if you are using under mount sinks, we will need the sinks at time of template to bring back to our shop.

Q: How many steps are involved from start to finish when replacing our countertops?
A: Two. After the estimate, we come to your home to do the templates. The second time we come into your home is for the actual installation. The turn around between these two steps can vary depending upon complexity of the job and current schedule.

Q: What are the differences among granite, marble, limestone and travertine?
A: They each have a different look to them. They are all from the ground HOWEVER granite is by far the hardest stone. Marble, limestone and travertine are softer and are acid sensitive.

Q: How do I maintain my granite/quartz tops and what do I use to clean them?
A: Clean with water and dish soap on a soft cloth. Do not use abrasive products; they will scratch your stone. Do not use products with ammonia; they will dull your stone over time. Seal when water doesn't bead on the surface, which consist of spraying and wiping.

Q: How often do I need to seal my counters and is it hard to do?
A: It is very easy to re-seal your counters. When water stops beading on your counter, you spray the sealing product and wipe, just like doing your windows. Sealing products can be purchased at most hardware stores.

Q: What is the difference between Granite and engineered stone?
A:Granite comes from the ground and has many unique colors and veining, engineered stone is a manmade product and is consistent in color and design.

Q: Do I get to select the specific slabs used in my project?
A: Absolutely, we prefer you go to the warehouse and select your slabs of stone.

Q: Is it possible to put granite on my island today and perhaps wait until a year or so and put granite in the rest of the kitchen?
A: Yes, you can do your remodel that way, but once you have your granite island you will want your counters ASAP!
